These collaborative events have taken place since 2013 for different ages and orientations. ‘We want to offer a relaxed way to meet new people, offline (for people who are sick of swiping) – and want to contribute to a positive cycling culture in London,’ says Margriet Schuring from CSD. ‘We know about quite a few “success stories”. Having the love for bicycles/cycling in common is a great start for a date and speaking from my own experience, it just doesn’t work when your partner wants to take the bus and you just want to ride your bike everywhere!’

Our attentiveness is unsurpassed. We get to know all of our members personally, understanding their busy lives and complex requirements. It is this focus that really sets us apart.

Currently I co-run a longitudinal study of marriage and family development, started in 2008 and ongoing, and the answers couples gave me about their engagement ranged from several months to several years.  On average, the couples in my study decided to marry years after they first showed romantic interest (many couples knew each other before they dated, but that isn’t counted).  This may reflect growing trends in the delay of marriage.  Much has changed in the last thirty years, and those in my study are still reporting general satisfaction in their marriages.  There is actually a lower divorce rate now than in the 80s, and what marriage means on a societal level is also changing.  Only time will tell how modern marriages are growing and changing from those started long ago.
